Digging, Spades, and a Pen.

This blog post I am writing is a rough draft introduction paragraph for the essay we are writing this week. I chose to write about symbolism that is portrayed in the poem "Digging" by Seamus Heaney, a poem we have read this year.

In our life we face obstacles with friends, the community, and especially our families everyday. In this poem "Digging" by Seamus Heaney the author uses symbols to represent or stand for something else, to utilize the main idea, and to explain to the reader what the poem is about. In the poem "Digging" by Seamus Heaney, Heaney uses a pen, a spade, and digging to represent the battle and guilt of not wanting to follow the footsteps of the family business to become a writer.
